Styling My Girls + Halloween Traditions

Happy Halloween! The girls have been looking forward to today for weeks and they are SO happy it’s finally here. They’ve changed their minds about costumes about 20 times (any moms relate??) but I think we finally decided on a Fairy princess (Brielle) and a Unicorn (Brynleigh).

When it comes to styling my girls I love to coordinate their looks. Sometimes I dress them in matching outfits but I usually just choose pieces with colors & prints that pair well together as apposed to full on matching.  You guys already know when it comes to kids’ fashion Nordstrom is one of my favorite places to shop for the girls. The kids’ clothes are always on-trend and Nordstrom carries all the brands we love and I have dressed the girls in for years. How cute is this polka dot dress I found a few weeks ago for Brielle?! This is a dress I would totally use for her in family pictures!  Mixing prints is one of my favorite trends in kids’ fashion right now. I love to mix plaids, stripes or polka dots together for a fun, funky look for the girls. These striped leggings are so cute & classic and add a fun pop to any outfit, Brynleigh actually picked these out herself!  The girls are getting to an age now where they have opinions and it’s so fun to see them start to add their own personal style to what they wear. 🙂

In honor of Halloween I thought it would be fun to share some of our families Halloween traditions! I hope you all have a fun & safe Halloween!! XO

  1. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow hayride at Conner Prairie – This is a tradition my family started when I was little here in Indy. If you follow me on Instagram you probably saw that we went a few nights ago! It’s the cutest Fall-type Festival in Indy that’s totally themed around The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. It’s every weekend in October leading up to Halloween. It’s so much fun and not too scary for little kids. The girls love to go every year! They have face painting, tons of food and snacks, a puppet show, Halloween karaoke, it’s a blast! There’s even a hayride where the “headless horseman” chases you at the end over a covered bridge (this may be too scary for toddlers but there are always a lot of young children on the ride and the girls love it!) .
  2. Going to an apple orchard- This is more of a Fall tradition in general but it’s one of our favorites! The girls love to go and pick apples and there’s a local orchard here in Indy that is so cute! They have a petting zoo and the cutest little shop where you can buy all types of apple goodies!
  3. Pumpkin Carving- This is a must and something my dad “Dad Dad” is usually in charge of. The girls LOVE to help carve the pumpkin and take all the “guts” out, as Brynleigh would say lol.
  4. Watching “It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” – Another tradition from my side of the family.  My Dad has always been super into Halloween and I remember watching this movie every year with my family! It’s the cutest cartoon and now the girls love to watch it with us. 🙂
  5. Halloween cookies- After trick-or-treating the girls and I love to bake sugar cookies and decorate them with different Halloween sprinkles and decorations. I usually make homemade hot chocolate to go along with it (I just look up “easy hot chocolate recipe” on Pinterest and follow that!)

What are some of your favorite Halloween traditions?? XO

His & Her Fall Looks with Nordstrom

Happy Saturday! You may have noticed I’ve got a guest with me in today’s post ;). You guys already know that Fall is one of my favorite times of year in general– but I especially love Fall fashion! From cozy sweaters and jackets to cute Fall accessories I love it all. I also love a good men’s Fall outfit on my hubby! Darek’s style was one of the first things that attracted me to him. Even in college when we first met, he always dressed really well! I was happily surprised to find that he actually liked to shop for clothes and had his own sense of style. Nordstrom has always been one of our favorite stores. You really can’t beat their selection of quality men’s fashion. Darek works from home most of the time but still travels for work/meetings often so he needs both professional and casual looks. Nordstrom has the perfect selection of both! I love that they mix high-end with affordable pieces. I love this casual grey Henley on him! We always buy coats for our entire family at Nordstrom every year during the Fall. Darek loves this black Northface jacket, it’s not too bulky and has such a sleek look.

A big thank you to my hubby for joining me in today’s post!  Darek is seriously the sweetest and supports me with my job so much.  I’m so thankful for him! Both of our outfit details from Nordstrom are linked below! XO

Hot Cocoa + Favorite Fall Styles with Bryn and Brie

Happy Thursday, Babes! We are back from traveling for Fall break and getting back into the swing of things this week! It has been a while since I’ve posted, I intended on blogging a little while we were in Utah and Hawaii and even took my laptop with me but of course that didn’t happen. It was just so nice taking it easy and enjoying our time together. We had the best time visiting Darek’s family in Utah over the break and the girls had a blast hanging out with their cousins and their Memaw and Pepaw!  Of course, Maui was amazing too! It was the first time Darek and I have gone on a trip alone in 2 years and it was so nice to get some alone time! The weather was amazing and we had so much fun. We hiked to a blowhole, snorkeled with sea turtles, ate waaaay too much amazing food, and just relaxed. It was a perfect get-away. If you’ve never been to Maui I would definitely recommend going! It’s so gorgeous and peaceful.

We had such a fun Fall break but it’s so nice to be back home and getting back in our everyday routine. Fall is definitely in full swing here in Indy. The high was 50 yesterday so we’re definitely not in Hawaii anymore! The girls and I bundled up in our favorite Fall pieces from Nordstrom and had a little hot chocolate date last night. I always get a lot of questions from y’all asking where I get the girls outfits and Nordstrom is definitely one of the main places I love to shop for them.  I actually love shopping for Brynleigh and Brielle more than myself!  I always loved dressing up my dolls when I was little so it’s pretty much the same thing only a million times better LOL.  I love that Nordstrom carries all of my favorite go-to Kids’ brands and I know the pieces are high quality/will last through the wear and tear of a four and six year old.  The little girls’ section is SO adorable and always on-trend.  When I’m picking out outfits for the girls I like to focus mainly on buying neutral pieces like this adorable hooded dress. I also have fun mixing in bright colors and prints (the girls love to help pick out pieces too) but I will usually balance a bright sweater or fun printed legging with a more neutral top or dark jeans to balance out the outfit. Marigold is one of my favorite colors to wear during Fall so I immediately snagged this peplum sweater for Brielle when I saw it.  Nordstrom also has an amazing Kids shoe section!  I mean, how cute are these fringe boots on Brielle?!  I also love that they have a thicker lining so they also keep her feet warm.  I wish they came in my size! Of course, the girls are also obsessed with their cozy Ugg boots every Fall/Winter (like mother like daughters lol). Brynleigh loves them because she can put them on easily by herself without asking for any help. I invested in this grey pair for both of the girls this year because they’re adorable and I know they will get SO much wear out of them!  All of our outfit details from Nordstrom are listed below!
