3 Things I’ve Learned Since Becoming a Mother + Mother’s Day Gifting

Happy Sunday, Babes!  Today I’m writing about something a little more personal.  I wanted to share some insights into some things I’ve learned since becoming a mother almost 7 years ago.  Brielle turns 7 this week and I can’t believe it’s been almost 7 years since I first welcomed her little spirit into our home.  Today I wanted to share a few things I’ve learned since becoming a mother.

  1. Embrace the mess.  This is something I struggle with to this day but it’s an idea that I’ve truly come to believe.  I’m a bit of a perfectionist and I love to to have my children in adorable matching outfits, with perfect matching bows in their hair and a perfectly clean house…but that’s NOT reality.  And that’s OK!  Some days we all wear pjs all day and the girls have messy hair and I’ve learned that it’s not a big deal.  You know what?  Sometimes those are my FAVORITE days.  In the past 7 years I’ve learned the most important thing isn’t that your house is perfectly clean and everyone in our family is looking perfectly coordinated, it’s that my children are happy and our family and home have a good spirit present.
  2. There is excitement and adventure in the everyday.  Darek and I got married when I was 19 and we waited 4 years until we started thinking about starting a family.  I have always LOVED to travel and Darek and I traveled quite a bit before we had the girls.  We waited to start a family and I was secretly scared that our lives would somehow become “boring” after we had kids.  But I’ve learned that is the farthest thing from the truth.  Yes there are plenty of days where we do the exact same thing: school, homework, dinner, (some nights we have dance or piano lessons) bed, repeat.  But those days where we don’t have a lot going on are sometimes my favorite days.  Some of my most precious memories are days where we just go to the park or have a picnic as a family at home.  I’ve been so blessed to have a job where I have the opportunity to travel often and travel with my family.  However, now that Brielle is in school and Brynleigh will be in Kindergarten next year, we do have to be home more and that’s ok!  I’ve been MANY places all over the world but at the end of the day there’s nowhere I’d rather be than home with my family.
  3.  Being a Mom is my greatest joy in life.  It’s not always pretty and perfect but it’s always the most rewarding job I do.  Blogging and connecting with all of you is also something I love and cherish.  I love connecting with my readers and with all of you guys through social media!  I truly feel so blessed and thankful to have the opportunity to do what I love as my “job” but being a mother is so fulfilling and it truly is my greatest joy.  I was lucky to be blessed with a Mom who put her children first and was always there for us.  She was my biggest example of how I wanted to be when I had my own children.  She’s still one of my biggest supporters to this day.  Darek and I feel so blessed to have these two littles in our lives and we wouldn’t trade it for anything.  Watching them grow and learn everyday makes me so happy.  They are SO funny, you guys!  They literally make me laugh every single day.  Motherhood is the greatest blessing in my life!

Motherhood is something to be celebrated and Mother’s Day is right around the corner!  I seriously can’t believe it’s almost here!  I have already started thinking about what I’m going to get my mom and Darek’s mom and I wanted to share some ideas with you all!  Nordstrom has so many great options for Mother’s Day gifts and they even offer gift-wrapping! How pretty and sentimental is this “Mama” pendant necklace?! I also love this open cardigan and I know my mom and mother-in-law would both LOVE this.   We live far from Darek’s parents in Utah so I love that Nordstrom offers free shipping so it makes it easy to ship my mother-in-law’s present to her!  I’m sharing some of my favorite gifting ideas for Mother’s Day from Nordstrom below!
